Product Description: An anthropologist from an alien planet provides voice-over commentary for a documentary look at human courtship mating & reproduction. Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 05/27/2008 Starring: David Hyde Pierce Carmen Electra Run time: 90 minutes Rating: R Director: Jeff Abugov
Amazon.com: This whimsical sex comedy presents itself as an alien documentary on the rituals and habits of terrestrial romance. Featuring Mackenzie Astin (The Last Days of Disco) and a tightly clad Carmen Electra (from the once-popular TV show Baywatch) as the Male and Female, the movie's at its best when the alien's commentary (voiced with supercilious aplomb by David Hyde Pierce, Wolf, Frasier) misinterprets flirting behavior at nightclubs. The jokes grow thinner as dating turns into a relationship (and the humor's perspective is decidedly male). Still, there are moments of wit, and the overall tone of The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human is more silly than smarmy, which sets it apart from most of the sex comedy genre. Also featuring Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels). --Bret Fetzer

As long as you pretend you are watching National Geographic or the Discovery Channel this stuff is awesome. The acting is incredibly terrible, yet adds to the quirky charm of this offbeat movie about human sexual behavior. The "alien" narrator, who is never seen, (a la "National Geographic" narrator) saves the film from being mediocre trash by giving deadpan explanations for the behavior of the "mated pair." Of course the explanations are usually wrong and funny. The humor in this movie is aimed ... Read More

Alien's view of the human dating and mating game. When you look at it from that viewpoint we do some really wierd and funny stuff. 'Alien' commentary throughout. Hilarious, but not for younger teenagers.

Yesterday, 11/02/07, this movie brightened a dull day for me. If only someone other than Carmen Electra had played the lead female role! Mackenzie Astin, other reviewers to the contrary, was just right as the testosterone-driven male lead. Carmen Electra looked too old and worn for her part. Nonetheless, this is a good deal better than a great many Hollywood comedies of more recent vintage. Though the idea is an almost obvious one, it comes to life because of the clever script. It IS better ... Read More

I saw this movie late one night on tv (maybe HBO) years ago and, being an avid dvd collector, have been trying to get my hands on it every since. The big blockbuster comedy films are great, but I get a lot of satisfaction out of rarely known little gems like this one that turn out to be really good. I love the creativity of the explanations the narrator gives for everything. I have to say that my personal favorite characters in this film are the sperm guys.(They offer a human performance explaining ... Read More

A very funny movie. A bit on the "R" side.
