Kitchen & Housewares - Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner
|
Rating: -
This canner is taller than expected and works well with quart jars. After several uses, I am satisfied with its performance. As always, the price was a deal.

They never send me the pressure Cooker. They took the order then waited and then I get notified that product is not going to be shiped. Sure I got refunded but I lost my canning season.

I put this canner to work as soon as it arrived and kept it busy for 3 days canning almost 40 quarts of applesauce, apple butter, and pie filling. I've used a smaller pressure canner before, but really like this one because you can stack the jars to increase the number done at one time. I'm looking forward to using it as a pressure cooker to make larger batches of soups, etc. and then as a canner to preserve the food. I do agree with the reviewer that said she wished it folded flat for storage - it is a big pot! I'm 100% happy that I bought it.

Haven't done any pressure cooking in it yet, but I am sure it will do fine. Great for water bathing canning products as you can do like 7 quarts or 14 pints. I didn't want aluminum, but that is what they recommend for glass cook tops. Seems to work well.

I have had this canner/cooker for over 2 years now. It is made to last which is unusual for a product made in China! I have used this vessel to can chili, soups, and stews. I have also cooked pinto beans, a whole turkey, soups, stews, and meat in it.
It has never given me any problems. It is exceptionally easy to clean. It fits perfectly in my double basin kitchen sink.
To anyone who is buying one of these, please be sure to check the pressure gage closely for any defects or abnormalities before using. I have read in the comments below that some of these may have caused the product to fail. One would be led to believe that improper attachement of the gage to the lid would be the primary cause and not malfunction as this is a part that requires you to attach it.
My mother and grandmother have used Presto Pressure cookers for over 50 years and have never had any issues with them.
The key to any pressure cooker is to inspect all of its parts, including the rings, seals, and gages before you use it and every time you use it. The rings and seals are made of rubber which will naturally detoriate over time. Presto recommends replacing these parts every three years.
Like most things, if you perform proper maintaince on them they will last.
I hope this post was helfull to you!
