Books - Astrology for the Soul (Bantam Classics)

Many astrology books out there are merely indulgement in philosophy. Astrology for the Soul is a practical book, applicable to any reader's life with razor clear explanations that cut to the heart of the matter. Jan sacrifices technical jargon and too much compartmentalization to completely integrate the life lesson contained in each node. While she doesn't specifically identify the south node, each node is dealt with showing the true polarity and with details of the north and south aspects of nodal placement: the negative karmic patterns of the south node that must be transcended, and the positive qualities of the north node which must be consciously integrated. Jan includes down to earth, plain language descriptions of the qualities that must be moved out of subconsciousness into consciousness so that the reader is able to recognize that within which he most tries to conceal. She includes healing affirmations and specific practices which make sense and work. This book came into my life in an unexpected way and quickly has become the heart of my analysis and the entry point into any chart that I use. While individual house placements are not included, and aspects to nodes are not covered, the essential core meanings are included here for the reader to build from. A tribute to the essential meaning of Astrology, the purpose of which is to add to people's lives and give them information which they can use and not merely think about.

I was reading one of the other comments from an astrologer of over 20 years. I disagree with her. She didn't read the introduction chapters of the book which stated to relate the house ruler and read that chapter. Jan Spiller has written a phenominal peice of work. I felt like I was reading a story about my life. Everyone I have turned this book on to has enjoyed it immensely. We need more Angels like Jan in this world, to help sort out some of the "old and set in there ways" Astrologers that are out there. The Universe is constantly changing and so is Astrology, to be set in your ways about the interpretation of the "way it used to be" is not leaving room to learn new perspective, which this book so boldly gives you. This is one of my top ten favorite books. Her other book Spiritual Astrology is just as great, read that one too. Peace...

A client of mine sent me this book, and while the writing is good, the text is incomplete. For example, I have a North Node Virgo, in my 9th house, conjunct my Midheaven, so naturally I would comment. Jan does not talk about the South Node, and you can't have the North Node without it, nor does she talk about which house applies, and everyone has their nodes in a different house. Also, the "soul" according to Rex Bills rulership book is ruled by Pluto and the 8th house. Jeff Green can attest to that. Years ago, Martin Schulman wrote THE MOON'S NODES AND REINCARNATION and explained it all in a 127- page skinny book that tells it like it is. I am reading all these wonderful things about the author, but am not convinced that she truly knows what she is talking about. I've been an astrologer for over 20-yrs. Carole Hemingway
