Books - Life on the Other Side:: A Psychic's Tour of the Afterlife

i purchased this book several years ago and enjoyed it immensely. and after seeing her on montel williams and hearing her on coast so coast am with art bell, i was completely hooked. what a truly amazing gift she has, right? i even went as far as booking a reading with her. the reading came and went. . . and absolutely nothing she said came true. while the book was a fun read, i learned a rather expensive lesson and will never again waste my money on anything that has to do with sylvia browne.

I read this book when it first came out and then loaned it to someone. I never got it back so decided to purchase it again. After reading it the second time, I was just awestruck by how much this book affected me. I have read most of the life after life books by numerous authors. Some are more believable than others but Sylvia Browne's is one of the most believable yet. It is easy to read and understand and you can actually visualize how things probably appear on the other side. One of my favorite parts is the appendix which lists the categories of Life Plans that we use when scripting our earthly incarnations. It is interesting to see how one specific category will jump out at you giving you a better understanding of why your current life is the way it is and also why other people in your lives make the choices that they do. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is exploring the afterlife.

I finished this book in 2 days because I couldn't put it down. It was very interesting and very insightful about the afterlife. Sure, most everyone holds different beliefs about heaven and hell, satan and god, you don't have to believe everything this book throws at you. It's like "what if it were true", I guess we'll find out eventually, right? Much of it made sense to me and I've always shared many of the beliefs in this book, such as with reincarnation. But the rest of it opened my eyes to other beliefs, such as with spirit guides and the "Left Door". Never would have given it a thought before. I liked the use of other's people stories that back up what Sylvia has written.
I think it was a wonderfully written book that is very inspirational and spiritual.

In this book, Ms. Browne gives a detailed account of her Catholic schooling and its contradictions which perplexed a young, sensitive girl whose angel, Francine, was always with her. Grandma Ada, from whom she inherited her psychic abilities, was also a spiritualist and always took up for youngt Sylvia when she was punished by the nuns for questioning their contrasting beliefs and teachings. Her own grief when Grandma Ada died created doubt; she felt empty and alone. At the age of eighteen, she admitted she had believed in fantasies about life after death. Her grandma appeared to her as a vision which dissipated when she reached out to her, as Christ did to Mary M. She experienced her grandmother's rapport.
Concerning Catholic confessions: Francine told her that "there is a sacred privacy act in place when it comes to our communications with God." She felt that the confessional was a breach of our confidentiality. I've never been an overly-religious person (emotion in religion is not my style), but I have always had a personal God to talk directly to without an intermediary.
She questions the possibility of every translation of the Bible being literal, and she gives examples of discrepancies. With her mixed religious background and higher education in reading about all different religions, she created her own church called Novus Spiritus. The artwork of two of its ministers show a science-fiction percept of life after death. In college, I took a course in religion and read the entire Bible, word for word. I was assigned my "favorite" prophet, Deutro-Isaiah. Not many people are aware that the book of Isaiah was written by two different people at different times.

In my three years of activly researching all aspects of metaphysics, I find this book to be an asset, far beyond conscious thought. Sylvia has gone through at great lengths, in bringing out what is so. I refer to her book frequently to keep abreast of things. I love the drawings in the back of the book, that shows what it looks like when we get back home to heaven. Her ability to explain and conceptualize several aspects of our beingness, is truely amazing. She even explains Life Charts and the Akashic Records (aka The Book of Life).
Looking over the reivews before me, I applaud the open minded folks here, who are seeing the larger reality of their existance. I laugh and grin, when I see these "evangelist" state that Sylvia is demonic. Those of us, who have actually done the research, READ THE BOOKS AND MEDITATE, will tell you that humans made up the concepts of Hell and the devil. When the "evangelist" and everyone else reads the Bible, there should be one question asked per passage. Does the passage send out Love or Fear? If Love, the passage would be good and beneficial. If Fear you feel, then the passage should be considered as altered by Emperor Constantine and the Council of Nicea, held in 325 and again in 381. Any religion that uses FEAR in it's preachings, has/will fail. When humanity starts to wake up (as it is slowly happening now through meditation), each of us will be able to see through the illusion of reality in the physical realm.
For additional reading, I suggest that everyone read "The Complete Converstations with God", to find out what God really thinks about all this. There is a lot of material out now and more coming out, that brings to light Ultimate Reality. God didn't stop talking to the people 2000 years ago. He talks to everyone now. It's just not everyone is willing to hear or is listening. Now is the time for humanity to wake up and remember who you really are.
In Light, a messenger
