Editorial Review:
Album Description: American Idol winner David Cook is set to release his self-titled debut album on November 18th, 2008. Produced by Grammy winning Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock), David Cook is a quality album full with radio hits. Cook co-wrote 9 songs from his debut, along with songwriters like Chris Cornell, Brian Howes & Cathy Dennis. The 1st single 'Light On' was co-written by one of rock music's most influential innovators, Chris Cornell, lead singer and songwriter for Soundgarden and Audioslave, and acclaimed producer / songwriter Brian Howes, who has worked with superstar rock bands such as Hinder and Puddle of Mudd.

I would give this album 4 1/2 stars if I could. I sort of stumbled upon David Cook through a deal made with my fiance. I would watch American Idol, if she watched UFC with me. Needless to say, I got hooked on Cook, from the very moment I heard "Hello". I was thrilled that I could actually root for a rocker on the show. If you've heard claims of overproduction on David Cook's self-titled album and have your doubts, look no further than the album artwork. What makeup artists and airbrushers did to David's face, the production team did to his music. So, if you like the typical AI fare for the masses, this album is for you; if you were hoping for the risk-taking material that set David apart on AI, don't expect much here.
Much ado is being made over David "writing or co-writing 10 of 12 tracks," but it doesn't ... Read More

I don't listen to records anymore. I hear a single. I like it. I buy it. I don't bother with the record because I never end up liking more than a couple songs. With David Cook. I can honestly say that I like almost every song. Especially the Easter Egg. My favorites keep changing and I even go back to a song I might not have been hot on at first and find something I like about it. The songs on this record are crying to be heard live, in an epic concert atmosphere. Stand out Tracks: Bar-ba-Sol, Lie, Mr. Sensitive, ... Read More
