Editorial Review:
Product Description: The kings of German power metal have returned! Helloween rose to the pinnacle of the heavy metal heap in the 80s with a string of undeniably classic metal releases and have continued to ply their trade across the globe for well over 20 years, becoming one of metal's most revered acts in the process. 'Gambling With The Devil' delivers more of that stunning, unmistakable Helloween sound: great musicianship, top-notch vocal delivery and superb songwriting. This is a mandatory release for all fans of melodic heavy metal.

I have to admit that I was really looking forward to a Power Metal album with lots of amazing guitar layers and in which Andi Deris could finally be entirely at ease, once not forced to sing songs that are not within his range.
I found ample reason for headbang here, and for not being able to stay still during repeated listenings.
I must say that I have never been a fan of Michael Kiske, certainly a great singer, but way melodramatic and with a vision of the band clearly off focus and ... Read More

This is easily the best album Helloween have put their name to for over a decade.
There have been glimmers on previous releases; The Dark Ride, Rabbit and Keeper (Legacy) were not without their high points, though they certainly lacked consistancy. Finally, with "Gambling..." we have a Helloween album that works from start to finish again.
The very best thing i can say is that there is no filler whatsoever and every track is different enough, within the confines of the ... Read More

I think this new album had successfully won back many fans who think they were already done for after the keepers legacy album. I thought that album was pretty decent but a turn off on most songs I wouldn't say it was bad. But gambling with the devil has the loudest modern sounds of heavy melodic speed metal with the mix of few similar bands including their own in the mid 90's, albums like better than raw/the dark ride and similar materials from bands like pinkcream 69 and freedom call. Andi deris's ... Read More

I just saw them in Mokena, ILL and actually ended up in the same hotel with the band AND on top of that partied with them the night before the show until like 3:30am. Markus picked up half of my tab and i had an amazing time. This albums DELIVERS! I would agree with another review that this has got to be the best and hopefully last lineup of Helloween. The album just doesn't stop and I doubt you will want to change tracks. I would also say for someone who's never heard the band this is a great album ... Read More

This review is not only about "Gambling with the Devil", but also a discussion of the post-Kiske era Helloween. I know of only two bands whose fans have been very unwilling to accept the departure of a lead singer - Iced Earth and Helloween. In both cases, but especially in Helloween's, fans refuse to give the new releases a chance, just because Kiske isn't there. Well guess what - the Kiske era resulted in a couple amazing albums, namely the two Keepers. However, Chameleon and Pink Bubbles were atrocious ... Read More
