Synopsis:

'Zamana Deewana' is an unqualified stroke of genius and one of the most entertaining movies in recent time. Suraj (Shatrughan Sinha) and Lala (Jeetendra) were good friends before falling prey to the vicious tricks of Sundar (Tinu Anand), so much so that Lala believes that Suraj is to blame for his wife's death. They become greatest of enemies and create chaos in the city by inciting gang wars.

Asst. Commissioner of Police (Prem Chopra) has a criminal psychologist KD (Anupam Kher) and Shalini (Kiran Joneja) weave a plot to bring Rahul (Shahrukh Khan), the lively and spirited son of Suraj, close to Priya (Raveena Tandon), the ever-so graceful and elegant daughter of Lala, hoping to bring the two sides together. Needless to say that good triumphs over evil, but only after a number of out-and-out entertaining songs and dances, zestful capers, taut-action sequences, endearing romance, and tongue-in-check dialogues with a generous sprinkle of heartwarming bihari-accented Hindi

- Spoofy Bollywood
This is a very funny and well-done movie but a lot of viewers (judging from reviews I've seen elsewhere) never figure it out and so don't appreciate it. The keys to enjoying it: (1) a sense of humor (2)some prior experience with Bollywood films and (3) understanding that the police inspector is smoking something and having pipe dreams!
