I bought this because of the consumer reports rating. It worked great, then it started failing to pick up pet hair and strings from my dogs' rope toys. Our former vacuum (also a Hoover) was pretty old and noisy, so we really didn't notice this one being that much nosier. This vaccum works fine, lots of suction. But, the hose on it was not only too short, there was no wire reinforcements, so it easily collapses. This is obviously the area they scrimped on to be able to offer the unit at such a low price.
