Cramming the entire history (at least up until 1994) of the Empire State Building into 41 minutes is an impossible task but this program does a good job of hitting the major events (construction, tourist attraction, the 1945 B-25 bomber wreck) and even has time to point out some lesser known facts (some of the top lights are turned off at certain times of year to prevent migrating birds from crashing into the building, two failed dirigible mooring attempts and during the bomber crash a woman fell ... I agree with another reviewer - this is NOT the program I saw on the History channel about the Empire State Building. It is a shorter program that seems to have come from A&E. About half the program is taken up with background (e.g. crowded conditions in NYC, etc). It doesn't really have all that much info about the actual building of the ESB. I know I saw a much longer program on the History channel about building the ESB (I even think it was on the Modern Marvel series), but this isn't it.

I saw a longer Tv documentary on the building of the Empire State sometime ago.I mistakenly thought it was this. It's good and informative but not the one i saw on TV.This one is short and sweet.

I was absolutely amazed at what was done in so short of a time regarding the completion of the Empire State Building. The logisitical challenges that were faced and successfully dealt with in that amount of months astounds me. I highly recommend this fascinating and entertaining documentary.
