For so many years, I have missed this album. Like so many others, I wore it out . I have 2 copies - but no turntable now. So imagine my delight when I found the CD. I suppose I have lived in a hole, but didn't know there were other albums. I also purchased Home to the Sea and am very pleased. I know that I will listen for hours on end to The Sea and only hope that others will be introduced to these marvelous works. Thanks Rod.

It was great being able to find McKuen and Kerr's work on CD. I only wish that the other two albums from "The Trilogy" were available

Poetry is the Skeleton. Music is the Muscle is a quote that I read in a magazine called Credenda Agenda. Well, this cd brings these two lovers back together. Listen to the excerpts. This makes a great present for either the spouse or the folks or the couple havbing the anniversary party. Some teenagers will like it.

This is so 70's!!! But I knew that, and was looking forward to hearing again the music that goes along with Rod McKuen's sort of sappy but nice poetry. He reads it out loud and it is very relaxing. I recommend this for anyone who lived in California in the 70's; you'll be able to relate to the words. And again, the music is worth it--the San Sebastian Strings playing Anita Kerr's compositions, sometimes upbeat, sometimes more classical, quirky and fun.

Unfortunately, for some strange reason "The Earth" was never made into a CD, so I thought I would try "The Sea". The poety is fine, but there is one BIG problem. Rod McKuen is NOT even speaking the lines, not reciting his own work, like he did on "The Earth" album. The liner notes say "a friend" is speaking. This was a HUGE disappointment, ... Read More
