Editorial Review:
Product Description: This book is primarily for those persons drawn towards homosexuality and who seek practical advice in order to change, or, at least, to deal with it constructively and responsably.

I was considering purchasing this book. First I read all the reviews, then I read what was available in the "search this book" feature. My immediate reaction was, "Why so angry?" I think that I can be justified in my suspicion that when so much anger is expressed that it may not be "tough love" but rather the indication that the anger is due to an "ego assault." From my very brief reading, I would venture to guess that the author's own Christian faith is being challenged by the fact of homosexuality. ... Read More

First off: If you only have time to read 1 review, skip down to FAWWER's. It is excellent and thorough & the reason I read the book.
Now my thoughts: This book is strong, strong medicine -- like chemotherapy-strong. In just 150 short pages, Dr. van den Aardweg gives a clear picture of the psychology of homosexuality, the self-defeating behavior patterns that must be broken, and direction as to how to do so.

I managed to skim through this book in less than an hour. I bought it mainly to see what he had to say. My feeling is he took parts of what all Homoseuals feel and then used those feeling to justify his views. He used the same old tired lines that all anti-gay pepople use. He provides no Therapy for Homosexuals.

ยท "The potential risks of 'reparative therapy' are great, including depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior, since therapist alignment with societal prejudices against homosexuality may reinforce self-hatred already experienced by the patient. Many patients who have undergone "reparative therapy" relate that they were inaccurately told that homosexuals are lonely, unhappy individuals who never achieve acceptance or satisfaction. The possibility that the person might ... Read More

I found Van Den Aardweg's book insightful because some of what he writes about mirrors my own adolescence. HOWEVER, I do have one problem. He never explains why "prehomosexual" girls have a preference for masculine toys to begin with (or boys choosing to play with dolls, etc,). He never gets to the core of the cause, perhaps because it would be biological in nature?
