Editorial Review:
Product Description: Chris Baty, motivator extraordinaire and instigator of a wildly successful writing revolution, spells out the secrets of writing -- and finishing -- a novel. Every fall, thousands of people sign up for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), which Baty founded, determined to (a) write that novel or (b) finish that novel in -- kid you not -- 30 days. Now Baty puts pen to paper himself to share the secrets of success. With week-specific overviews, pep 'talks,' and essential survival tips for today's word warriors, this results-oriented, quick-fix strategy is perfect for people who want to nurture their inner artist and then hit print! Anecdotes and success stories from NaNoWriMo winners will inspire writers from the heralding you-can-do-it trumpet blasts of day one to the champagne toasts of day thirty. Whether it's a resource for those taking part in the official NaNo WriMo event, or a stand-alone handbook for writing to come, No Plot? No Problem! is the ultimate guide for would-be writers (or those with writer's block) to cultivate their creative selves.

I have told many people they need to buy this book. I have read this book aloud to my husband until he begged me to stop. Chris Baty's writing style is perfectly peppered with humor. His insights into the roadblocks we all erect in the path preventing us from writing is dead on. This is the only "how to write" book you need.

Very nice book! It does what it promises: giving you the idea that writing a book in a month (National Novel Writing Month, in November) is easy. Now, I'm sure I will write one next November!

So you're into procrastination, eh? Having this little book sitting on your desk, glaring at you (apparently, books can glare) during November or whichever month you choose to do your 50k words really makes a difference. I've tried NaNoWriMo a couple of times and it didn't really "stick" until I got the book and followed his tips. Granted, a lot of what he has to say can be picked up on messageboards but having someone hold your hand through each week really made a difference.

The big disclaimer for this book is that you should really check out the website first. Nanowrimo is designed to get people writing, rather than producing the next great American novel in one sitting. Obviously, a novel is a labor of love and hate. Nanowrimo creations are word-count grudge matches. Once you know that, you'll be better prepared for what you get when you buy this book.
It's cute. It's funny. It's typical Chris Baty writing stlye, which makes you laugh and nod in agreement ... Read More

Chris Baty, the founder of National Novel Writer's Month (NaNoWriMo), tells how to write a novel in a month. This book is a good companion on your noveling journey; it is a quick read, had handy references like a chart of daily word goals, and it's full of humor to keep your spirits light. Avoid common pitfalls, like throwing your novel away during week two, and learn how to find time to write even if your schedule is already full. It contains information that is not on the NaNoWriMo website, not to ... Read More
