Editorial Review:
Product Description: The Boice Commentary series combines careful scholarship and clear communication in a verse-by-verse and section by section reading of various biblical texts. Combining thoughtful interpretation with contemporary insight for daily living, James Montgomery Boice explains the meaning of the text and relates the text's concerns to the church, Christianity, and the world in which we live. Whether used for devotions, preaching, or teaching, this authoritative and thought-provoking series will appeal to a wide range of readers, from serious Bible students to interested laypersons. 'The psalms themselves,' says Boice, 'speak so powerfully to the hurts, fears, disappointments, faith, hope, and spiritual aspirations of God's people.' This third and final volume in the Psalms collection explores the psalms known as the 'Songs of Ascent' (135-150), which deal with the theme of worship-teaching us what true worship is and when and how we should praise God.

I have really enjoyed all of the commentaries I have read by James Boice, including these on the Psalms. I use them for summer devotional reading. He is very thorough in exploring all of the major interpretations and very thoughtful in his analysis. I am often delighted to find new thoughts about a passage. Yet it also reads smoothly with an easy intimacy and gentle compassion.
I highly recommend these works.

He leaves behind treasures that will certainly become classics. In his erudite but easy to understand way, Boice helps us to come to grips with the rawest elements of life on earth, as well as to delight in the most ecstatic pleasure of a relationship with God. In his amplification of the psalms, the author describes and illustrates the profound applicability ... Read More
