Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Arms and Bust (inaccurately named because you can develop the chest muscles with exercise, but not the bust) is three different 10- minute beginning level, upper-body-toning workouts that increase muscle endurance. You'll need dumbbells, and although Austin says you can use 'soup cans' if you don't use weights, you won't gain much strength.
Workout 1, done standing, targets the biceps, triceps, and shoulders. Workout 2, done seated, targets the shoulders (she says that one exercise is for the upper back, but the position targets the shoulder muscles instead), biceps, triceps, and back. Workout 3, done standing and sometimes moving, targets the chest (using pushups), biceps, shoulders, triceps, and upper back.
All three of these workouts repeat an essential error: Austin does exercises that she claims target the chest, but because they are done standing, gravity puts the load on the shoulders, so they'll tire way before the chest gets any benefits. As an exercise physiologist, Austin should know that.
This video promotes muscle endurance more than strength, because some sets last 25 or even 60 repetitions, so you can't use weights as heavy as you could with shorter sets. --Joan Price

What's not to like about this tape, esp. if you're busy? I have 4 kids, and don't always have time to do a 45 min. tape, but there are no excuses anymore. This is a workout tape with 3, 10 minute upper body weight lifting workouts. All you need are dumb bells (2 pound, 5 pound, and 10 pound) and you're ready. When I have a lot of time, I do all three, when I'm in a pinch, I do 1 or 2 of the 10 minute workouts. In addition, I run 10 - 30 min. every day on the treadmill, and do a Pilates tape ... Read More

I also find Denise annoying. She talks to her viewers as if they are children. I do enjoy the workout.

This is not that bad of a workout. I'm not that crazy about Denise Austin, since I find her sort of annoying, but I really felt like I toned my arms after I did this workout. She breaks it up into a few different section, with different types of arm exercises in each one. She gives you the option of using cans of soup if you don't have any weights.

This is a good video with good routines but I have 1 complaint- sometimes she does too many reps and does them way too fast. In one segment she does about 50 bicep curls which is a lot. Yes you want to fatique the muscles in the arms, but you don't want them to fall off! Anyway, after reading the editorial critisims about the video, I am weary of recommending it. Although this video did get my upper body toned and got me off to a start, I don't know if it was necessarily the safest way... so just ... Read More

I recently got this tape for my birthday and let me tell you that it works! This video works out all of the arm muscles that she describes in the video. I have firmer than I've ever seen in my life! There are three workouts on this tape. You should do the first one for 2-weeks; the second for 2-weeks; and finally the third for 2-weeks. That way you'll have firm arms and bust in just 6-weeks!
