Product Description:
'I've already drunk my fill of blood, so live a little longer. Breathe for a while and watch what's about to unfold.'
Thomas Ward has spent two years as the Spook's apprentice. He's faced unimaginable peril, and survived. But a new danger has emerged: an ancient water witch, Bloodeye, is roaming the County intent on destroying everything in her path. To strengthen his skills, Tom is sent to the far north to train with the demanding Bill Arkwright. Arkwright lives in a haunted mill on the edge of a treacherous marsh, and his training methods prove to be harsh and sometimes cruel. Will Tom's new bag of tricks be enough to overcome a critical mistake that leaves him confronting Bloodeye on his own?

I discovered Joseph Delaney's young adult dark fantasy/horror series The Last Apprentice this past summer. Over the last few months I've barreled through each installment of the series and have yet to be disappointed. Delaney gets better with every book, and the series' fifth novel, Wrath of the Bloodeye, is no exception.
Bloodeye picks up where Attack of the Fiend leaves off. The witch clans have brought the Fiend (the "Devil himself") into the world and he's after Tom. In order to ... Read More

This has to be the best series I have ever read. My middle son says it's better than the Harry Potter books. Both of younger kids (one girl/one boy) are in love with this series.
In the Wrath of the Bloodeye, Tom is captured by a some really bad guys recruiting boys for an army. After this encounter, The Spook sends Tom to Bill Arkwright, an old apprentice of the Spooks, thing get harder and harder. For one there is a dangerous water witch out and about, Morwena. It's also said that ... Read More

When I ordered this novel, I was not aware that it was part of a series; the fifth in the series. Nevertheless, I dug in and was pleasently surprised. I am a big fan of Horror and a big fan of Fantasy, so I really enjoyed how the author took a staple of the Fantasy genre (young apprentice) and set this in a horror novel. While the novel is geared toward teens, just like the Harry Potter books, it can be enjoyed by adults as well. An easy and scary read filled with ghouls, witches, and things that ... Read More

WRATH OF THE BLOODEYE - VG
Delaney, Joseph - 5th in series
This has been a great series for those of us 11 and older who love fantasy. It has gotten darker with each book. I love the character of Thomas Ward and seeing him develop through the series and of his friend, Alice. The story is complete in itself, but leaves it open for the next.
I definitely plan to continue with this series.

I love this series! It's impossible to put down. You must start with Book One, and you'll eagerly move on to Book Two. Each installment is filled with spine-tingling action, but I think its greatest strength are the characters, which are very complex and interesting. The main character, Thomas Ward, is as authentic and likeable as Harry Potter. The storyline is so unique, I was never sure which way the story would turn, which kept me turning pages well past my bedtime. I also admire the author's writing ... Read More
