Product Description:
She thought she was the luckiest woman in London . . .
Surviving on a seamstress' income and a steady stream of fantasies, Prudence Bosworth has always longed for love and romance. Then she inherits a fortune from the father she's never seen, with the stipulation that she wed in one year. Prudence is determined to marry for true love, and after seeing firsthand the splendid chivalry of a certain duke, only one man will do . . .
Rhys de Winter, the Duke of St. Cyres, hides his cynicism behind a quick wit and an even quicker smile. He must marry an heiress, and as luck would have it, the pretty little seamstress-turned-heiress is exactly what he needs. But he never expected to fall for Prudence, and when his shocking deception is revealed, he will stop at nothing to win her back . . . even if it means renouncing every last one of his wicked ways.

I read quite a lot of romance and I have to say...I'm in love with this book...
The hero is real. He is not a good person but you still want to love him. I'm so tired of reading books that are so boring that it takes me days to get through them. This book is a keeper.

I couldn't think of a very inspiring title for this review, but that pretty well sums up my response to this book. I love LLG's title and have relished some of her other recent novels, but this one was less exciting. I never quite liked the hero's scheming ways, even if he did redeem himself in the end. I don't blame the heroine for what she did in the end - I wouldn't have trusted the bugger either!

While a fun romance to curl up with on the sofa, I found the book wordy in places, like the heroine's girlfriends rehashing everything the heroine goes through. On the other hand, I felt that the book could have been more interesting with dialogues between the h/h that did not include his kissing her and thinking how much he liked plump women or his lying his way into her good graces. Maybe I wanted to read something more tangible between the h/h aside from the naive-heiress and the slick-rogue routine. ... Read More

Even though this book is a bit predictable I liked it, mostly because the hero was so appealing.
Prudence Bosworth, a seamstress in London, meets Rhys De Winter, Duke of St. Cyres at a ball. She finds him handsome in the extreme and incredibly brave, little does she know he is really a rogue and on the hunt for a wealthy heiress as his fortunes have dwindled. Rys notices the seamstress and is thrilled when he discovers she has inherited millions of dollars from her estranged father. This ... Read More

Acceptable, average Victorian Cinderella fantasy.
This is a mediocre, unoriginal romance read. It has a predictible plot: "Fortune Hunting Rogue Falls in Love with Naive Heiress".
The characterizations are superficial, most of the characters are motivated by the most obvious greed and self-interest. The hero was pleasantly cynical, the seamstress heroine independent and the surprise inheritance gigantic, but none of it resulted in a compelling story.
The anaemic plot's conflict resolution ... Read More
