I am not overly involved in religious studies and I do not know TOO much about Christian history. All I have is a college course on the Torah, a college course on the New Testament and a complete reading of the New Testament. I was just looking for a basic introduction to Gnostic belief and pseudo-Christian philosophy but this went way over my head and wasn't what I was looking for at all.

If your passion is Gnosticism than this book is for you. One you would keep in your library. Very complete. I wish I owned the hard cover. This book will orient you to Gnosticism complete. I recommend reading this book BEFORE you read the Nag Hammadi Library. Not a book for everybody simply because you may not want to go into this much detail on the subject. After reading this book I can read more detailed Gnostic scriptures and have a much better understanding of what it is I am reading. This ... Read More
